Latest Updates from Our Project:

Playable Teaser Now Available on Steam
about 8 years ago – Mon, Mar 07, 2016 at 08:21:22 PM

We're pleased to announce that the Overload Playable Teaser is now available as a free download on Steam.  You can find it by searching for "Overload Teaser" in the Steam store, or going to:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/450220/

You may find installing from Steam easier than downloading the zip file.  And if we do any updates to the Playable Teaser, Steam will install them automatically.

Even if you've already downloaded the zip file, you might want to install on Steam anyway to help us get our numbers up :)

If you like the demo vote us thumbs up.  You can even write  a review!

Thanks.

Playable Teaser Released to Backers

We're very excited to announce the release of the Overload Playable Teaser. This short demo of Overload contains three levels, a short "destroy the reactor" game, and a fun challenge mode. This is a chance for everyone to see how far we've come and to have a blast playing Overload.

We've already released the demo to streamers, YouTubers, and press, and today we're releasing it to our backers to thank them for their support. If you've backed the project you'll receive a backer-only update with instructions on downloading the game.  If you back the project after the demo is released, go to the Kickstarter campaign page and look for the backer-only update titled, "Playable Teaser Ready for Download".

The Playable Teaser will be available to the general public on Monday March 7. Everyone who hasn't already pledged will then have a chance to play and see for themselves that this project is worth backing.

New Demos at $90 Reward Tier

People are so excited about our Playable Teaser that we've decided to add two new demos as rewards at the $90 level (and above). We're expecting to release these in June and August of this year. They'll be bigger than the Playable Teaser, and we'll be focusing on showing off new features and content. And it will be a big benefit for the project to get feedback on these demos, so we'll be eager to hear what you have to say.

We can't actually change the existing $90 level, but we'll be creating a new $90 reward with all the same stuff plus the demos. Anyone who chooses this reward or the existing $90 reward will get access to the demos.

Big Final Push

There are five days left in our campaign and we've still got half the money to raise. We know we can do it, especially with your help. Please spread the word about the Playable Teaser. We need everyone to play it!

WARTILE

We've recently backed another cool project, WARTILE.  It's a beautiful game that brings tabletop miniature gaming to life.  They've just started their campaign so be sure to check it out.

We're still working hard on this final week, but a quick reminder that we will be on the Volition Live stream today at 4pm CST, featuring the latest build of Overload!  Tune in to see the Revival Team show off their blood, sweat and tears.

Plus, we'll play the Overload Classic Mode that one of our programmers went rogue on.  Not sure where this will go, but it's a lot of fun.  Here is a video of it in action; it may look familiar:

Thank you for the support!  Keep posting, tweeting, talking, shouting about Overload; we can do this!

about 8 years ago – Tue, Mar 01, 2016 at 03:16:48 PM

We're extremely busy on something special for everyone with a huge push coming this week.  Thank you for understanding the time constraints of a small team!

GREENLIT

Great news! Overload was given the go ahead on Steam via Project Greenlight in less than a week. We are blown away by your support and enthusiasm for this project! Thank you!

9 DAYS OUT

With 9 days left in the campaign, we have a lot of work left to do, but we can make this happen. We believe people who experience the dynamic movement and explosive combat of Overload will want this Kickstarter to succeed. This week, we have a major push with press and streamers to get the word out and show off what makes Overload great. We hope this will introduce an entire new group of gamers to the project and the genre. We need your help to get the news out. Watch for updates and press at the end of this week and share it!

POWERUPS

For the upcoming push, there hasn't been much sleep, but we've been able to drop a lot into the game. Below is a sneak peak of what will help you survive rampaging robots and deal out some damage of your own.

WE'RE NO ACTORS

We haven't received any Oscars, but you can watch us live on the Volition Stream Thursday night at 4pm CST to show off Overload!

KNIGHTS AND BIKES

While we have you here, we would love to tell you about another Kickstarter we've been watching and backing! Knights and Bikes is a co-op adventure on PC and PS4. They hooked us in as soon as we read "inspired by Goonies" and saw the wonderful 2D art-style. Get in on it now before the campaign ends!

New Trailer: The Weapons of Overload
about 8 years ago – Fri, Feb 26, 2016 at 09:55:09 PM

We're working hard on many aspects of the game, with one of the major ones being new weapons.  They're a great way to show off what's cool about Overload, and they're also just fun to work on.  Right now our focus is on ensuring that each weapon functions in a fairly unique way, is fun to use, and looks and sounds cool too.

These are just first passes at the weapons, and we'll be revisiting all of them later to refine the sound FX and visuals, give them all upgrades, and make sure they're properly balanced.  Further below you can get a closer look at the art of three of the four missiles that are in the game, but for now, here's the new trailer showing off the weapons:

Now onto the pretty pictures:

Hunter: Dual-firing small homing missile

Creeper Mine: Small self-guided mines

Devastator: Large cluster missile with manual detonation

Weapons aren't all we've been working on, and we've got some big announcements coming next week, so stay tuned.

PS. SHOUT OUT TO OUR FRIENDS AT OBSIDIAN!  THANKS FOR BACKING OVERLOAD!
