Latest Updates from Our Project:

Just Keep Working...
almost 7 years ago – Fri, Jul 28, 2017 at 11:38:20 PM

We've had our heads down, working hard on Overload.  While we love this phase of development, it doesn't convey our progress to all of you.  So, here is a long overdue update on where we are at!

Final Launch Update

We are now looking at simultaneous release of single player on all platforms Q1 2018 with multiplayer following 4-6 months after. At our current production rate, we won't be able to hit the submission deadlines for consoles to have Overload release this year. It is important for us to get this right and have all platforms release together. Everyone has been very supportive and we understand this is frustrating. Please give us a little more time to make Overload the best it can be.

Steam Early Access and DRM-free

Overload is available on Steam Early Access (all Backers who chose Steam/DRM-free should have received a Steam code through BackerKit). We are currently on Version 0.5 with 3 full campaign levels, 8 Challenge Mode levels, 13 weapons and 12 robots. Features include Automap, exit sequence, the Holo-guide, upgrade system, online leaderboards, player ship and save/load. Version 0.6 is just a couple weeks away and will add another CM level, new robot, cloak and the Timebomb.

With each major Steam Early Access update, we will send out DRM-free links to all the PC backers through BackerKit. These links are live for a short time and can be viewed under your "Digital Downloads".

Consoles

Overload on consoles is nearly feature equivalent to the PC (video below of Luke playing the new CM level on XBox!). We are still working on some features (save/load and leaderboards) and need to optimize. Thus far, we've been unable to get into an Early Access-like program on console. If at anytime you would rather switch to PC, instead of waiting for final release, contact [email protected].

Backer Rewards

All physical rewards will be shipped at one time after release. As much as we wanted to get things out right away, making multiple shipments is very expensive. For In-game rewards, we will be contacting you to coordinate those. If you need any help with your rewards or BackerKit account, contact [email protected]

Steam Early Access

Overload is now available on Steam Early Access.  All backers receiving a digital copy of Overload on Windows, Mac or Linux, are also included in Steam EA.  Keys were emailed out this morning; if  you have any issues or questions, please email Cathy at [email protected].

We are looking into other platforms for in-development release, and hope to have more information on that in the upcoming weeks.

Overload Release Update
over 7 years ago – Sat, Feb 04, 2017 at 12:05:53 AM

.

Like some of you, we at Revival have noticed that it’s almost March 2017, the announced release date of Overload.  And while we're excited that March may bring spring, we're sorry to say that it won't be bringing Overload.

We're working hard on Overload and the game is looking great, but as sometimes happens, it's taking longer than expected.  Our current best guess is that the single-player game will be ready in Fall 2017, with the multiplayer version to follow 4-6 months afterwards.

Since the November demo for our beta backers, we’ve added a ton of cool stuff, such as a much-improved automap, significant enhancements to Challenge Mode, new levels, more sounds and music, and new robots.  We’re sure you’ll love all the new features.

We’re also working on an update of the Playable Teaser that includes all of our new features.  We’ll be releasing that to the general public in a few weeks, and we hope to announce at the same time more detailed plans for the rest of the project.

We'd like to thank you for your patience and support.  We're super-excited about Overload, the response from our backers, and the great feedback we've been getting.  Please keep your comments coming and we'll do our very best to deliver a game everyone will love.

Thanks!

What's happening?
over 7 years ago – Thu, Oct 13, 2016 at 12:03:14 AM

It's time for an update on what has been happening with Overload so far this fall.

PAX West

Matt, Chris, and Luke had a fun and exhausting time at PAX West Indie Mega Booth. Even though the booth was small, many people came through and experienced Overload firsthand. The response was overwhelmingly positive and encouraging for this stage of development -- Overload played well and the VR station was a hit, sporting a line the entire show.  We appreciate all the people and press who came by to chat and give support.  Here are some great articles from Hardcore Gamer, Gaming Trend and Elo Talk; plus we were featured in PAX summaries from the Escapist and Geek Wire.  Go here for Luke's summary of making builds on the road and the benefits of a padded floor.  We would like to thank Indie Megabooth for the great opportunity to show the game!

Development

Right now we are enjoying time focusing on development.  We have the major technical elements set and have a solid base for Overload.  Because the best way to give you the information you want is to answer your questions, Luke and Mike recently sat down for a developer Q&A.  If you have any questions that weren't answered, or their answers started an entire new line of query, please let us know!  We'll keep track and record another video next month to keep you informed.  Message us here, visit playoverload.com or send us a tweet (@playoverload).

Coming Up

Soon, our focus will shift to the next Beta Backer Demo coming by the end of this year.  We will have a more polished level from earlier in the game, two new robots, better controller support, some new level elements, and our new UI scheme.  We're also working on fairly substantial optimizations over the August Demo.  And there will be a new Challenge Mode level.
